Blue Door Garden Design, Inc.

Carmel Valley, California

Landscape Design Assistant

December 2024 - Present

My tasks included producing hand-drawings, designing outdoor spaces, drafting 2-D and 3-D drawings using Dynascape and SketchUp programming, collecting site measurements, communicating with clients and coworkers in Spanish, ordering and delivering plant materials, and various hands-on field work.

From this position, I learned how to design and draft official landscape documentation, and hands on tasks such as installing and updating irrigation systems and their control panels, and assembling light fixtures. I also had the opportunity to learn how to properly plant and maintain a garden, and of course, gain a plethora of flora knowledge!

Earthship Biotecture

Taos, New Mexico

Intern Builder

November 2025

I had the opportunity to participate in a three-week long internship to assist with building an Earthship home. I learned a great deal of hands-on building assignments that were at macro and micro levels of building. Outdoor tasks included mixing mortar and adobe, as well as pounding a sledge hammer to fill old car tires packed with dirt, and stacking these same tires to make exterior privacy walls. Indoor jobs I tended to were organizing glass bottles, cleaning them inside and out, cutting them in held and transforming them into ‘bottle bricks’. I would then carefully and meticulously stack empty cans and the bottle bricks to make interior non-structural walls, supported by mortar.

I learned a significant amount of endurance in my time at Earthship Biotecture. I was exposed to the artisan techniques of making dwellings out of both recyclables and non-recyclables. These items might have as well have gone to the landfill, but instead were collected, carefully washed and given a second purpose. Restoring things and putting attention into what we readily discard is a artistic craft. I was so pleased to have witnessed first hand how Earthship Biotecture took these measures a step further, and build sustainable and functionable homes.

Friends of Carmel Forest, Non-Profit

Carmel-by-the-Sea, California

Hands-On & Remote Volunteer

April 2025 - Present

Tasks include planting 5-gallon sized trees, watering a set list of newly planted trees, as well as maintaining and checking in on the overall health of the tree. I also helped organize and add detailed information I collected into the non-profit’s digital inventories database and and their tree mapping software.

I learned about a variety of different types of trees, their growing rates, how to determine if there are signs of struggle to flourish and how to maintain and prune for optimal survival. I learned how to proficiently use Excel Sheets as I helped gather updated information of the planted trees. I also learned how to navigate and enter detailed information and photos of said trees into our ArborPro software.

Since joining Friends of Carmel Forest, I have witnessed how celebrating trees and taking such judicious consideration of them, can inadvertently assemble a community to all take action. FOCF has opened the door for volunteers like myself, and has further elevated my passion to keep the forest alive and prosperous, for today’s ecosystem and future generations.

Remodel Residential Home

Hanover, Massachusetts

Architectural Drafter

November 2024- April 2025

I had the opportunity to help a client produce a schematic design set of drawings for their remodel. Using Revit software, I worked with the client to draft floor plans, elevation, section, axonometric and detailed drawings.

From this opportunity, I was able to strengthen my communication skills as I worked one-on-one with the client to illustrate their vision and ideas. I learned how to use tools like Google Earth to collect additional site measurements. Additionally, I was able strengthen my understanding of Revit’s software and draft the existing vs. new construction structural components of the home all by adjusting the line weight.

Massachusetts College of Art and Design

Boston, Massachusetts

Student of the Architectural Design Program

September 2021- May 2024

In my time at MassArt, I gained a plethora of design, drawing, drafting, and CAD knowledge. From illustrating hand-drafted scaled floor plans, to learning a laser cutting machine to perfect my topographic models, I have gained lots of valuable insight in what the world of architectural presentation can look like.

My educational experience at MassArt was immeasurable. It was here that I learned software’s like Revit, SketchUp, and various Adobe products. I had the pleasure of taking classes that honed in on my drawing skills to produce 2-D and 3-D perspective illustrations as well as scaled floor plans, site maps, elevation and sections drawings.

I also got the chance to take two semesters of a Furniture Design class where I learned even more hands-on building techniques. I learned how to properly use countless power tools from miter saws bandsaws to jointers planers, and of course, the micro woodshop tools like the chisel & mallet and hand-planer.
